This traditional tour will give you a chance to observe
different tribes lifestyle. You will visit development
projects which are done by the village member groups
such as women groups and youth group.
Tour summary
Traditional tour in different villages of different
tribes in the Northern Circuit of Tanzania where you can
freely mix with tribal people to practice and observe
their lifestyle, some of that villages are Mto wa mbu,
Ng’iresi, Mulala, Mkuru, Machame, Tengeru, Mamba and
Marangu. Also a visit to development projects which are
done by the village member groups such as women groups
and youth groups. Mountain climbs of different village
mountain peaks and visit traditional healers and to the
forest areas where medicinal plants are found.

Day 1: ARUSHA (City Sight seeing Tour)
After breakfast, visit local marketing, ex-colonial
government Buildings, African Artistic Carvings and
works, Maasai Traditional Weapons and many areas around
the city of cultural Interest. Dinner and overnight at
the Impala Hotel (H/B).
Day 2: ARUSHA (City Sight seeing Tour)
On the next day, proceed with City Sight seeing
including National Natural History Museum, Arusha
declaration monument Museum and so many things of
cultural interests. Continue with trip to Meserani Snake
Park, 25kms away from Arusha City. Here you will see
more than 50 species of snakes including most poisonous
and Dangerous snake of Africa. “The African Black Mamba”
at display of window Glass. Drive back to Arusha, Dinner
and overnight at the Impala Hotel (H/B).
Day 3: BABATI
After breakfast, departure for Babati. Visit Managhat
village, original home of the Gorowa tribe to see the
dairy activities of them. Launch, dinner and overnight
in Babati. On the second day visit a respected Gorowa
tribesman Mzee Kwaraa for insight on Gorowa culture such
as marriage ceremonies, rain prayers, burial, religious
and circumcision rituals and lastly climb Bambaay Hill
from where you can see beautiful Rift Valley landscape
with Lake Babati and Lake Manyara and the Maasai Steppe.
This is a half day tour and in the afternoon departure
for Hanang.
Day 3: HANANG
After launch, meet with Barbaig tribals and gain
cultural insight on their marriage procedures, burial
rites, local taboos, and way of making ornaments and
goatskin dresses, and their daily activities. Dinner and
overnight in campsite at Hanang.
Day 4: MTO WA MBU
After breakfast drive for Mto wa mbu to view into
culture of the many different tribes living in the area,
walk through the farms in the green oasis at the foot of
the Rift Valley, visit Miwale lake and waterfalls, and
climb to Balaa Hill from where you can see the whole
town. In the evening drive to Arusha for dinner and
overnight at Impala hotel (B/B).
Other option: Is to see the place on bicycle or taking a
boat tour with the guides but it is on request.
Day 5: NG’IRESI VILLAGE
After breakfast, drive to Ng’iresi village to view the
Wa-arusha culture (old stories, traditional houses) and
meet a traditional healer, a guided tour of some farms
on the green slopes of Mt. Meru, a climb to Kivesi Hill,
an old volcano with a natural forest on top and also you
can visit the development projects such as soil
conservation, irrigation, cross breeding, bio gas and
fish nursery. And if you want you can get lunch and
dinner which prepared by the Juhudi women's group.
Overnight in campsite.
Day 6: MULALA VILLAGE
After breakfast, drive to Mulala village where the
starting point of the tour is Mama Anna's quaint cheese
and butter making dairy unit. A guided tour
crisscrossing coffee and banana farms to the top of
Lemeka Hill, a glimpse of the daily life of Meru
farmers, information on surrounding vegetation and
crops, a walk to the Marisha River banks, thick with
tropical vegetation and home of colorful birds and
playful monkeys and walking tour into the forest reserve
and climb up to the foothills of Mount Meru. Dinner and
overnight in campsite.
Day 7: MKURU VILLAGE (CAMEL CAMP)
After breakfast, drive to camel camp at Mkuru camel
camp, where you can make camel safaris to the Maasai
plains between Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and Lake Natron,
and enjoy the friendly behavior of the "ship of the
desert". Before reaching camel camp, you can do walking
safari through the natural forests on the slopes of Mt.
Meru and a game drive around Momela lakes. Spend the
night at Momela Lodge. And also you can climb Mount Ol
Doinyo Landaree, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of
Mount Meru and the Maasai plain. During camel safaris,
about 20 km are covered before lunchtime, after which
you can relax and explore the area around the camp.
Launch, dinner and overnight at Mkuru village.
Day 8: MAMBA AND MARANGU
After breakfast, drive to the beautiful towns of Marangu
and Mamba for walking tours through valleys with
numerous waterfalls, and see the mountain village life.
Enjoy the panoramic scenes and natural beauty of
Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight in Marangu.
Day 9-10: PARE MOUNTAINS
Afret breakfast drive to Pare Mountains for viewing the
unique the Pare culture of Tanzania. Guided tours
include a walk through Kindoroko Forest Reserve,
Climbing to different mountain peaks, thorough
explanations of medicinal power of plants and herbs
growing in the area, a trip to the fishing villages at
Lake Nyumba ya Mungu, where birdlife is overwhelming and
a view into the Pare culture, with tales of ancient Pare
legends. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Pare mountains.
Day 11: MACHAME
After breakfast, drive to Machame north of the
Arusha-Moshi road for explore the culture off the people
of Mount Kilimanjaro, environmental tour on the foot of
Mount Kilimanjaro. Walking tour through fertile banana
and coffee farmlands and learn an intensive
inter-cropping system of mixed crop farming and also you
can participate in cooking a traditional Chagga meal.
Launch, dinner and overnight in Machame.
Day 12: TENGERU
After breakfast, drive to Tengeru for cultural tour in
Meru tribe and also you can enjoy the local singing,
dancing and poetry of the Meru culture, a guided tour to
the legendary Chief’s compound to see his handcrafts and
artfacts, visit the local farms owned and managed by the
members of the Pandati Women’s Group. Late evening,
drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight in Impala Hotel
(B/B).
